About Us
Our Mission
Anabranch Water provides Stock and Domestic Water to forty-three landholders on the Darling Anabranch.
The Darling Anabranch
The Darling Anabranch is located in the south-west of New South Wales and extends some 460 km from its junction with the Darling River to the Murray River approximately 20 km downstream of Wentworth. The Darling Anabranch is within a larger, major wetland system that encompasses the Menindee Lakes and is part of the Murray Darling Basin. The Darling Anabranch naturally receives inflows when flows in the Darling River exceed 10,000 ML/day and along the Darling Anabranch itself, there are a number of ephemeral lakes.
Great Anabranch of the Darling River Water Trust
In 1997 the Great Anabranch of the Darling River Water Trust (the Trust) successfully applied for Natural Heritage Trust (NHT) funds to develop a new management plan for the Darling Anabranch system.
The Darling Anabranch Management Plan
The Darling Anabranch Management Plan (DAMP) Steering Committee was established in 1998, with representatives from local landholders, government agencies, and industry.
